Utah woman likely preparing defense for allegations of sex crimes

The tactics many individuals use to defend against criminal charges often depend on the circumstances under which the allegations were filed. Parties who are accused of sex crimes may wish to take different approaches to their cases than individuals accused of other crimes. One teacher in Utah is undoubtedly exploring her defense options after recently being taken into custody.

Reports stated that the woman’s arrest relates to her allegedly having sexual intercourse with two teenage boys on separate occasions. The boys — both reported as being 17 years old — told authorities similar stories. The woman purportedly purchased alcohol and took each boy back to her home where they consumed the alcohol before having sexual contact. One incident reportedly took place in December and the other in January.

The woman is facing several charges in relation to the purported incidents. The allegations include two counts of first-degree felony rape, four counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor and one count of felony witness tampering. At the time of the report, the woman was still in custody in lieu of a $20,000 cash-only bail.

Felony allegations relating to sex crimes can cause immense distress and panic to individuals accused of such activities. The woman in this Utah case undoubtedly hopes to create the best criminal defense for her situation. In her efforts, she is likely working alongside an experienced criminal defense attorney to help her better assess her options and determine which legal avenues may offer the most assistance regarding her particular situation.
