Utah man taken into custody for alleged sex crimes
One man in Utah may be working toward creating a meaningful criminal defense due to recently being taken into custody. The 40-year-old man was accused of sex crimes after he reportedly allowed his son to have friends over for a Halloween party. At the party, the underage children allegedly got drunk, and a girl in attendance purportedly passed out.
The girl stated that when she began to regain consciousness, she was in a bathroom and that the boy’s father was raping her. She reportedly told the man to stop, but he allegedly continued with the purported actions. She also claimed that the man took her from the bathroom and into a bedroom where he allegedly continued to have sexual intercourse with her against her will. The girl also said that the man slept on the floor outside the bedroom door so that she could not leave.
It was unclear how the authorities became aware of this purported situation, but the man was taken into custody. He reportedly said that he was aware of the fact that the individuals at the party were underage and intoxicated. He could potentially have charges of rape, kidnapping, forcible sexual abuse and other allegations leveled against him.
If the man is formally charged for the alleged sex crimes of which he has been accused, he will likely want to explore his legal options. By gathering information on criminal defense strategies, he may be able to determine which options could best suit his case. He may also wish to become more knowledgeable on Utah criminal procedures relating to sex crimes in order to better understand his predicament.
