Utah police recently took a man into custody after carrying out a search warrant. The warrant apparently had to do with alleged drug crimes with which the man was suspected to have been associated. It was unclear what may have led police to have the initial suspicion that caused them to obtain the search warrant.
Reports stated that police utilized a K9 unit when carrying out the search and allegedly located various drug paraphernalia. Some of the items police say they seized included syringes, pipes and straws containing drug residue. Additionally, the search also allegedly uncovered marijuana and methamphetamine. The report went on to state that another room was located in the basement, and police purportedly found explosive materials there.
Reportedly, the man stated that the materials were his. As a result of the search, he is currently facing multiple charges. The allegations include possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of explosive parts. It was also noted that he was charged with child endangerment due to allegedly selling drugs in the home where two minor children lived.
Facing allegations for drug crimes can be a serious situation to address. The Utah man in this case will undoubtedly want to ensure that he understands his legal rights when it comes to defending against the charges that have been leveled against him. By better understanding his circumstances, he may feel more confident as he decides what routes may work in his best interests. As with anyone accused of a crime, he is presumed innocent until -- and only if -- convicted in a court of law.
