When a person is faced will allegations of being involved in alleged illegal activity, his or her first reaction may be to defend against those charges. While this option is a viable one for many individuals, some parties may also wish to look into other possible legal avenues. If a party is charged for sex crimes or other alleged criminal offenses, he or she could also consider plea bargains if such deals are available.
A man in Utah may be interested in his possible legal routes after being charged. It was reported that the man allegedly met single mothers through dating websites and group meetings, and after establishing a relationship, he would reportedly sexually abuse the children. He is accused of abusing a 7-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl from two different relationships.
The 7-year-old was allegedly abused after the man offered to give her swimming lessons. The 10-year-old girl was purportedly abused after her mother allowed her stay at the man's home. The man is currently facing charges for aggravated sexual abuse of a child. It was not clear how the alleged abuse came to the attention of authorities.
As the Utah man's case moves forward, he may want to understand what choices he has when it comes to handling his legal situation. He should have the ability to create a defense against the sex crimes allegations, but he could potentially also have the option of entering a guilty plea in order to perhaps have access to a lesser sentence. Of course, the man and other individuals in similar situations should consider their specific circumstances and proceed in the direction that they feel most comfortable.
